This method describes the construction of the connection between a GBE wall and a cast-in-place concrete slab.
To make the method shown in this document easier to understand, the insertion of GBE spacers used with formwork systems incorporating tie rods has intentionally been omitted from the explanatory diagrams.
This method must be adapted as necessary to comply with the installation recommendations, particularly the safety requirements, specified by the suppliers of the equipment and materials used to construct a GBE wall.
Phase 1:
-
Tip: provide a starter at the base of the wall to facilitate positioning of the formwork panels and help limit grout leakage.
-
Position the internal formwork panel.
-
Install the structural reinforcement
while leaving a clear area at the top of the formwork at the level of the future slab.
Phase 2:
-
Prepare a recess former — polystyrene is recommended:
-
Provide one or more concrete placing channels.
-
Cut slots in the recess former to allow the stainless-steel connecting bars for the external concrete leaf to pass through.
Phase 3:
-
Position the recess former at the level of the future slab.
Phase 4:
-
Position the insulation panels with the GBE components assembled beforehand.
-
Cut slots in the insulation in line with the slots previously made in the recess former, to allow installation of the stainless-steel connecting bars for the external concrete leaf.
Phase 5:
-
Insert the stainless-steel U- or L-shaped connecting bars through the slots formed previously.
Phase 6:
-
Install the reinforcement for the external concrete leaf.
Phase 7:
-
Position the external formwork panel and the concrete placing hatches, then tighten the formwork in accordance with the formwork manufacturer's recommendations.
-
Place the concrete simultaneously for the external and internal concrete leaves.
Phase 8:
-
Strip the formwork.
-
Remove the recess former.
Phase 9:
-
Construct the slab using the selected construction method.
-
Install sealed formwork to form the starter for the internal wall, then place the concrete.
